Lace Up Stand Up (LUSU) began as a group of University of San Diego students who started the organization through a Leadership in Groups class and has expanded into a nonprofit organization creating social change at the local and national level. The group uses neon green shoelaces as a means of spreading awareness about school bullying. After piloting at the Linda Vista Teen Center, San Diego, Lace Up Stand Up has partnered with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater San Diego and will continue to present workshops at local San Diego high schools, middle schools, elementary schools, and Boys & Girls Clubs. Lace Up Stand Up teaches children about bullying and gives the students leadership techniques they can use to stop bullying and become better leaders on their campus.
